The Council on Aging has three outreach workers who are available to assist seniors and their families find resources to help seniors remain as independent as they would like to be. Appointment are preferred and strongly encouraged.
Brenda Pappas LSW, is available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm, Wednesday 8:30am-7:00pm and Friday 8:30am-1:00pm. Andrea Cross MSW is available Monday through Thursday 8:30am-1:30pm. Audrey Allen, is available Monday and Tuesday 8:30am – 1:00pm and Wednesday 8:30am - 6:30pm.
Brenda Pappas is a certified SHINE counselor and the COA representative of the Lahey Hospital Domestic Violence Committee. Brenda also facilitates a caregiver support group every other Wednesday at 6:00pm at the senior center.
Thanks to a $100K for 100 Cummings Foundation Grant Audrey Allen is available to work with Southeast Asians and older unemployed Burlington residents who are out of work and in need of support. This grant allows us to help the largest minority population in Burlington with social services and social engagement. Audrey also co-facilitates 55+ Job Seekers a support and educational group meeting twice a month.
The outreach workers also help seniors apply for fuel assistance, food stamps and other benefits and conduct wellness checks.
