June 30, 2006:  Burlington Firefighter Cadet Jeff Boucher graduated from Newton Fire Academy.   After a two week orientation he will be assigned to Group 4.  The successful completion of Firefighter Boucher probationary period will bring the Department to a full complement of Firefighters.

June 23, 2006:  Burlington Firefighter Cadets Brendan Micche and Eric Holey graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy.  After a two week orientation of day shifts, they will be assigned to Groups 1 and 3 respectively.

 

June 2, 2006:  Burlington Firefighters are extremely busy week of Memorial Day.

December 1, 2005: Burlington Firefighters rescues window washer from 5th floor of building after his rope failed and jammed.  Although the man was in no danger of falling he was unable to move up or down and had to be rescued using BFD's Tower 1.

October 28, 2005: Burlington Firefighters receive 2005 Massachusetts Fire Fighter of the Year Group Meritorious Award during a ceremony at Faneuil Hall.

October 15, 2005: Burlington Fire Fighters hold open house for the public where approximately 500 braved the torrential down pour to take part in the day's activities.

October 7, 2005: Firefighter Mike McLaughlin graduated from Mass. Fire Academy class # 169 with 71 other graduates from 37 departments.  After a 2 week orientation program Firefighter McLaughlin was assigned to group 1.

  

 

September 14, 2005: 2 Fire Fighters from Burlington return home from New Orleans Disaster. Assistant Chief Steve Yetman and Firefighter Paul Sullivan left on

September 5, 2005: Burlington Fire Local 2313 with the help of the community raises over $21,000 in annual boot drive to Benefit Muscular Dystrophy of which half will go to helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

August 9, 2005: Retired Lieutenant Louis Skelton passed away at the age of 92.

Burlington Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of retired Fire Lieutenant Louis Skelton at age of 92.  Lt. Skelton passed away on August 9.  The Burlington Fire Department recently honored the Skelton family with the naming of the Skelton Lobby at Fire Headquarters.  Lt. Skelton was the last living firefighting family member.  He will be missed.
