The Burlington Police Detective Division is responsible for the investigation of serious crimes. Detectives investigate: crimes against persons; property crimes; financial and white-collar crimes; sexual assaults and abuse, child assaults and abuse; and other allegations of criminal conduct that may be referred to the department from outside agencies. All detectives have specialized training to insure that they are up to date with current law and techniques. The goal of the division is to investigate every case to its fullest extent and to bring each case that warrants criminal charges to a successful conclusion in court.
The Detective Division consists of a Detective Lieutenant, Detective Sergeant, four criminal detectives, a Youth Services Detective and a Domestic Violence Detective. The prosecution of all cases originating from within the department is processed through the Woburn District Court by the Court Liaison Officer, who is under the direct supervision of the Detective Sergeant.
