Burlington Police Services available to the community.

RAD Self Defense Course February and March 2017 in Burlington MA

Sign up form for those interested in taking the next available RAD Self-Defense Class.

This is a 5 night program which will run on Wednesday nights in February and March 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The dates are February 15 and 22nd at the Burlington Police Department and March 1, 8 and 15 at the Council on Aging.

This class will be held for the first two nights at the Burlington Police Department at 45 Center Street with the remaining three nights at the Kelly-Murray room of the Burlington Council on Aging at 61 Center Street in Burlington.

The program is FREE and we only ask that students attend all 5 nights of class. We have never turned anyone away but if the class fills to the point where we can't make room for everyone preference will be given to Burlington residents and then those who work in Burlington.

RAD is for adult women. Women aged 14+ can take the program with a parents consent and in the company of a female parent or trusted adult.

There is no charge for these programs and each program has a lifetime free return and practice policy anywhere that RAD courses are offered, except for Radkids, which ends at the child's 13th birthday.

When you take these classes please wear comfortable athletic clothing and please leave weapons and jewelry at home.

Free Crime Prevention Programs for the Community


The Burlington Police Department is committed to working with the community to reduce crime and fear of crime and to educate the public in order to improve safety and quality of life. If you live or work in Burlington or you have a business, group or organization in Burlington we would be happy to help you. All of our services are free and we have a number of highly trained officers who are experts in many specialized fields who would be very happy to come and talk to you or your organization. If your group does not have a suitable facility we can also work with you to find an appropriate location. 

We currently offer the following programs:

Self-Defense Courses - We offer personal safety and self-defense classes for women, seniors, men, and children. We teach the RAD programs for each group of adults and Radkids for children. You can find out more about these programs at http://www.rad-systems.com and http://www.radkids.org

Workplace Safety and Violence Prevention Training - We can train any sized group at your business on what to do when encountering violence in the workplace and active shooter situations.

Crime Prevention Assessments - We can go to your home or business and make recommendations to improve safety and enhance security procedures.

General Police Topics - We can come to your business or meet with your group to talk about a wide range of police related topics with any type of audience. 

Speaking topics include, but are not limited to: Crime Prevention, Emergency Preparedness, Drug Awareness, Domestic Violence, Traffic Safety, Social Media, Terrorism & Homeland Security, Current Police Issues in the News, Crime Trends in Burlington and Surrounding Towns, Personal Safety and Security, Online Safety, Policing as a Career, Massachusetts Criminal Law, and any other police related topic you need assistance with.
