Burlington Massachusetts Police Department

The Burlington Police Department was founded in accordance with a vote of the town on March 3, 1941. To date, the Burlington Police Department continues to be one of the most highly regarded and professional police departments in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  A large majority of the Officers were born, raised, and reside within the community. This knowledge of their community makes these Officers 'problem solvers' and not 'report takers' (Burlington Annual Report, 2012, page 29).

Located approximately 15 miles Northwest of Boston.  The Burlington Police Department is a full-service Law Enforcement Agency accredited by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.  It serves a population of approximately 25,000 residents and a commercial sector that swells the daytime population to well over 100,000.  The department is comprised of 64 full-time officers, 3 dispatchers, 3 civilian clerks, 12 traffic supervisor/matrons and a sworn animal control officer.
