Thimble Island Cruise

Date:  Saturday, June 24th
Cost per Person:  $118

The Thimbles have often been described as "a piece of Maine coast that drifted into the Long Island Sound..." Summer excursion vessels plied these waters during the 'golden age' of the Victorian Era.  Twenty-three of the islands are large enough to be inhabited.  Approximately 80 homes, built mostly during the Victorian Era, are complete with widow walks, gingerbread trimmings, and genteel gazebos.  Island range in size and have spartina and pink granite with the larger ones boasting scrub pine and hardwoods making the islands appear to be deceivingly tropical in nature.  The tour includes:  45 minute cruise of the Thimble Islands, luncheon at the USS Chowder Pot III Restaurant and a stop at Bishop's Orchard & Farm Market.
