Skelton's Companions

California in the gold rush was a cosmopolitan civilization where people from all over the world came to seek their fortunes. Part of the gold rush experience involved people from different backgrounds and origins working together in search of riches. Skelton mentions working with a number of different partners, including two Chinese mentioned in a 1856 letter (top) and a George Daniels of Wisconsin, (bottom) in early 1857.
