The Burlington Town Archives and Records Center organizes records by
record group: each department and committee has a record group number.
If the
Public Records Division publishes a
retention schedule for
the department, the record group is the same as the schedule number.
As online finding aids are created, they
will be delivered on this page. Archives are meant to be used; for more
information on how much duplications cost, see our fee schedule (web, pdf).
To request copies of images, complete:
- Duplication order form web, pdf)
- Duplication agreement web, pdf)
- Publishing agreement web, pdf). Complete the
publishing agreement if you wish to use the images in a publication
(printed or electronic).
To request other records, please let us know what type of information
you are looking for; please be as specific as possible. If you wish
for your identity to remain
anonymous, please let us know. Depending on the nature of your request,
you may have to complete one or more of the forms listed above, but we
will let you know.
The archives provides one hour of reference
or search time at no charge; after that searches are billed at $20 per hour.
The archives are also available for your use during regular town hall hours (8:30 am-4:30 pm M-F,
typically closed 12-1), the second and fourth Thursdays until 6:30 pm, and
by appointment outside of those times. It is best to call first to make sure
that the archivist will be on-site.
Please send your request to the Burlington Archives.
Remember, we can only
provide access to records that are in the custody of the archives. For
other records, please contact the department directly.
Within each record group the records are separated by function e.g., program records, administrative records, etc. After that the records are organized by series title e.g., minutes, reports, decisions, etc. Since the lists are large text files, you may simultaneously hit Ctrl F for keyword searches.
