WALK-IN CLINICS The Public Health Nurses’ office offers a Walk-in Clinic on the first and third Tuesday each month from 9am to noon (except holidays) and on the second Thursday of each month (except holidays) from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. During those hours, routine services are offered as follows: blood pressure screening, Mantoux skin testing (Tuesday AM only), immunizations, general health counseling. BOARD OF HEALTH/LAHEY COMMUNITY CLINIC In an effort to make health care available to all Burlington residents, the Board of Health/Lahey Clinic has agreed to provide routine medical exams at no cost for residents between ages 19 and 65 who have no other insurance or limited coverage. Please call our office at 781-270-1957 for information on eligibility and scheduling. All exams are performed at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. The first visit will be at no charge and you will receive a voucher for free parking. You will then be referred to a financial counselor for any further diagnostic testing or further health services that may be recommended. Services include:
IMMUNIZATION ADMINISTRATION:
INDIVIDUAL SCREENINGS BLOOD PRESSURE – Confidential monitoring of blood pressure is done in our office by appointment for new clients only or during the Walk-in Clinic for returning clients. We can also advise on diet and exercise programs to achieve and maintain a healthy blood pressure range. PEDIATRIC BLOOD LEAD TESTING – A “finger-prick” blood test is done to determine blood lead levels. This test is usually done as a one-time school requirement. Results take at least one week as testing is processed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. GROUP SCREENINGS BLOOD SUGAR – A “finger-prick” blood test is done to give an at-the-moment blood sugar reading. Fasting from midnight (the night before) is required. Regular medications may be taken with only water before testing. LIPID PROFILE – A “finger-prick” blood test is done to determine a total cholesterol level reading with a breakdown of LDL, HDL, and Triglycerides levels.
