The "Friends of the Marion Tavern" is a non-profit organization
chartered under section 501(3)c. Its mission is to preserve and restore
the Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm by establishing a self-sustaining
legacy for the benefit and enjoyment of our
citizens and future generations.
The Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm is part of the historical and
cultural heart of Burlington. Its origins date from a 1770 "saltbox"
house whose uses have evolved over the years. Today it stands as an
example of a 19th century connected farm complex. Having served at
times as a farm and a stagecoach tavern, the property's history reflects
Burlington's heritage as an ever-changing community that has responded
to the needs of the day.
In 2002 the Town of Burlington obtained the Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm
in a three-way land swap with its most recent owner and a local
developer. The Town is committed to preserving the structure
and restoring the building to its original magnificence. It has been proposed
that the renovated structure be used as a self-sustaining function facility.
To reach this goal a major fund raising effort has been initiated.
Here are the levels of sponsorship, donations, and incentives associated with the fund raising effort:
Copper - $25 to $49 (recognition on the GVF web site)
Bronze - $50 to $99 ("Cat's Meow" wooden keepsake)
Silver - $100 to $249 (Bronze benefits plus Marion Tavern afghan)

Platinum - $500 to $999 (Silver benefits plus installation of large personalized brick)
