Mission Statement To preserve and restore the Marion Tavern at Grand View Farm by establishing a self-sustaining legacy for the benefit and enjoyment of our citizens and future generations. Update The January Town Meeting passed two warrant articles that cleared the way for the Phase III barn effort to begin. Linwood Construction has completed the foundation. The walls and roof have been installed. Phase III is expected to be completed in the fall of 2011. Interior work is progressing. Students from the Shawsheen Vocational Technical School have completed their semester, finishing electrical, HVAC, plumbing and carpentry work on the interior of the main house. Appreciation days were held for the students. View a four-minute BCAT News update on the Grand View Farm barn construction at BCAT's archive. Click on “BNEWS Weekly”, then on “August 19, 2011”. The feature is at 1:54 minutes into the show. View a six-minute BCAT News update on the Grand View Farm project at BCAT's archive. Click on “BNEWS Weekly”, then on “February 11, 2011”. The feature is at the beginning of the show. The committee is currently seeking input on the Phase III re-creatation of the small barn and on the phase II finishing of the interior of the main house. The goal is to provide space for municipal and community use. See photos of the Billerica Middlesex Meetinghouse for an example of what can be done through a farm-house restoration. The Dracut Harmony Hall is a good example of a hall that is used by both the town and public. The Phase 1 bricks have been installed in the commemorative walkway at the traffic bump-out by landscape architect Ryan Wikman of WikWorks. View the Brick Inscriptions. Please help by attending a meeting, buying a brick (thanks to the almost 300 donors who purchased bricks for the October 2009 placement), buying other commemorative items or making a donation. See the Commemorative Items / Brick Order Form (pdf 604kB). See the newspaper articles or the Committee meeting minutes for more information. Read the 5 Facts About Grand View Farm (pdf 208kB), courtesy of Judy Wasserman and the Burlington Union. View the Grand View Farm - Marion Tavern Time Line. See some of the artifacts that have been discovered during the construction. See also the Burlington Historical Commission site. Naming Note References can be found to both the "Grand View Farm" and the "Grandview Farm". Historical precedence goes to the first usage so the Committee recommends using the "Grand View Farm" for future references.
